Michael Brown Tribute: Although most of these Wrappers (Wack + Rappers) are part of our problem, at least they are taking a step in the right direction. Now if they could only stop rhyming Nigga with Nigga in their songs….hmmmm that would be real revolution

The Game, Rick Ross, Diddy and 2 Chainz, have collaborated on a track dedicated to Michael Brown called Don’t Shoot.

Grammy-nominated rapper The Game assembled the group, which also includes Fabolous, Wale, DJ Khaled, Swizz Beatz, Yo Gotti, Currensy, Problem, King Pharaoh and R&B vocal trio TGT.

Brown was fatally shot by police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Mo., on Aug. 9. Subsequent protests and confrontations between citizens and the local authorities brought national attention to the story.

“The issues in Ferguson really hit home for me, and I feel compelled to use my musical platform to address this,” the Game told Rolling Stone, which premiered Don’t ShootWednesday. “I am a black man with kids of my own that I love more than anything, and I cannot fathom a horrific tragedy like Michael Brown’s happening to them.”

On the track, rappers place Brown in a lineage that includes both Trayvon Martin andEmmett Till, a black teenager murdered in Mississippi in 1955. Others draw parallels between the attention focused on the situation in Ferguson and that given the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

“Time to take a stand and save our future/Like we all got shot, we all got shot,” TGT sings in the song’s hook. “Throwin’ up our hands, don’t let them shoot us/’Cause we all we got, we all we got.”

The song can be heard on SoundCloud and is available for purchase on iTunes. Proceeds from the single’s sale will go to the Michael Brown Memorial Fund, aGoFundMe campaign to “assist his family with costs that they will acquire as they seek justice on Michael’s behalf.”
