And it don’t stop (STL police shoot another unarmed youth in the streets)
Things appear to be spiraling from worse to horrific in St. Louis. As if the area continuing to bask in the dark shadow that is Michael Brown’s murder – and the dust up between Brown supporters and Darren Wilson supporters at Monday night’s Cardinals/Dodgers playoff game – word is making its rounds tonight that an off-duty St. Louis police officer killed another young Black male tonight during a “pedestrian check.”
Conflicting reports seem to be sprouting from the scene as police say the man (allegedly 18-year-old Vonderrick Myers) attempted to run and shot at the officer first, which seems to be a familiar account by STL law officials when using such force. Assistant Chief Alfred Atkins said the officer was attempting to question four men at the time when all four took off on foot. Per Atkins, the officer “fearing for his life” fired back at the young man. Police claim to have recovered a gun at the scene and the officer has already been placed on administrative leave.
Witnesses, however, claim he was only holding a sandwich at the time he was tased and shot approximately 15 times.
The timing for this latest killing comes with quite quite the unique bill of timing. Today is October 9, exactly two months to the day Brown was murdered by Officer Darren Wilson. More on both stores as details emerge.
