Lil Boosie talks about crime, the game , rap gimmicks, and the effects it all has on the poor

“I feel like African-American is the worst race in the world, because first of all, we kill each other,” said Boosie. “People always talk about this racist stuff, but the White man ain’t waiting in your bushes with a choppa. The White man ain’t trying to take the rims off your car. We’re doing this to each other. So how can we say ‘”eff” the White man’? He ain’t doing nothing, but when we get in trouble – he’s doing his job. Guilty. He ain’t doing nothing wrong.”

This is the quote leading most media outlets when referencing Boosie’s latest interview. It’s a misleading quote! In the very next breath Boosie responds to a more basic question that the journalist asked or that he interpreted better by saying -“we need to take back our communities, we need to educate our own children and we need to take back the arab owned businesses in our communities .” – not a direct quote but you get the point. Boosie understands the issues that plague the black community much better than he can articulate the issues of the Black community.

I will admit I have never in life, listened to  a Lil Boosie record. Maybe It’s because Im old in relation to the demographic in which I assumed he catered too. Maybe Im biased and maybe outside of the traditional big name southern artist, maybe I don’t respect what the south has traditionally bought to the game.  Maybe it’s that box fade and them gold teeth that made me look at the image of Lil Boosie and secretly say ( this coon!) Maybe Ive got internal prejudices that shut the opportunity out. Whatever it was after watching this interview I’ve decided I made a mistake. I’ve decided at the very least this interview has sparked an interest in me that wants to learn more about boosie.
